Across Any Universe

"No, I haven't tried that." Dave said. But he still felt like it was pointless. Hell, Karkat probably moved on from him by now. Maybe it was best that they didn't talk again. But Dave was pulled out of his thoughts when they stopped at their stop. "We're here." He stated before getting up and walking off with Dirk.

Dirk followed Dave off, looking around. "Hey, there's a subway, how about there for lunch?" he asked, pointing

"Sounds good." He slipped his hands in his pockets and headed towards the restaurant. He held open the door for his brother, following him inside and standing in line.

Dirk was looking at the menu eagerly.

Outside, Kankri lead Karkat past the window, the younger troll slouching behind his guardian with the hood of his black hooded sweatshirt pulled up to shield his eyes from the sun, the Older troll's head bare with his nubby horns just showing from his mess of curls. He, of course, was talking constantly to his companion, who was ignoring him.

Dave just so happened to be glancing out the window out of focus, but then Kankri's horns caught his eyes. He jerked upright immediately, eyes widening behind his shades. He hurried outside, but by the time he got out there, they were gone. Was he seeing things?

Sighing, he went back inside and stood behind Dirk.

Dirk turned to him upon his return. "What was that about, Bro?" he asked curiously. "You ran out of here like you saw the she witch herself coming at you with a battalion of drones."

Kankri continued to lead Karkat to the museum, only stopping their one-sided conversation long enough to pay for their admission and thank the attendant, then it was into the depths of the human exibits to start. After all, Kankri knew Karkat had a soft spot for human cultures.

"Thought I saw something..." Dave mumbled. They got their subs and sat down, taking their time with eating. Dave stared out the same window most of the time, wondering if what he saw was just a trick of his tortured mind.

Dirk made a noise of sympathy. "So, I've never been to this museum before, Is it any good?" He asked, trying to help take Dave's mind off the event.

"Yeah, it's pretty cool." Dave responded, finally breaking his gaze from the window to look at his brother. "It's bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. You're gonna have a real field day."

"Is this one of the ones that has interactive parts for kids?" Dirk asked curiously.
