Your Nightmare Come To Life

"Cal used to watch you while I was at work" Bro replied "He'd make you lunch and watch the cartoons with you"

Dave sort of half shrugged, cutting off a piece of chicken. "I don't really remember a whole lot."

"Cause you were little" Bro shrugged.

Cal continued eating in silence, not wanting to say anything to cause Dave to get upset. So he settled for listening to their conversation as he ate his dinner, very pleased with how it came out.

Bro looked over at Cal with a smile, putting his hand on his thigh. "Taste okay?"

Cal glanced up at the elder Strider and chuckled lightly. "Shouldn't I be asking you that?" He asked him.

Bro pouted. "I tried to help" he protested

"And you did very well." Cal commented, reaching down with his free hand to give Bro's hand a squeeze.

Dave frowned as he kept his eyes on his plate, idly stabbing things before putting them in his mouth. Mentally he was saying to Bro 'Fucking really? In front of me?'

"is the macaroni at least any good? I know I made that" Bro replied

"It tastes great." Cal reassured him with a chuckle. "It's neither under or over done. Just right, Goldilocks." He grinned.

Bro scowled at him before sticking out his tongue. "Mean to me."

The middle male snickered and gently rubbed his hand with the top of his thumb. "Love you with all my heart."

By this time, Dave was just staring at his food, a blank expression on his face.

"Still mean to me" Bro muttered, shoving a fork full of food into his mouth.

Cal simply shrugged and went back to eating. Dave simply sat there for several minutes, before he started to eat again. At least their attentions towards each other was...semi-bearable. But for how long?

"We should have dessert. I want dessert." Bro stated when he was almost done. "I say we go out for dessert."

Cal giggled and rolled his eyes. "Alright, we can go out for dessert." He said as he stood up, having finished his food. He took his plate to the sink and started washing it.


Dave glanced up at Bro, then over at Cal, then back to Bro with a frown.

"What? Don't you want dessert?" Bro asked, shoving that last forkful of food into his mouth.

"You're an asshole." Dave grumbled so Cal couldn't hear before finishing up his food as well.

Cal busied himself by putting what was leftover into plastic containers, humming softly.

"What was that? I didn't quite catch it" Bro stated in agitation.

"Then get your fucking ears cleaned. You. are. an. asshole." Dave growled out, lifting his head to full blown glare at Bro.

Cal shifted a little, giving a glance back at them.

"You wanna fucking go?" Bro asked, raising a brow. "Cause we can go to the roof and fucking strife this attitude of yours right into the fucking grave"

"At this point, I just might take up up on that offer. Or better yet, why not just strife right here right now??" He snarled, shoving the chair back as he got to his feet.

This time, Cal set the plate down gently, not moving to do anything just yet. He was just focusing on them right now.

"Not in the apartment" Bro replied coldly, standing. "You know the rules"

"Fuck the rules." Dave snapped. "As if we haven't broken obvious rules before." Then he slowly smirked. If only he could provoke his older brother... "Fucked em real good."

Bro's cheeks flushed slightly. "David Beyonce Strider, you are not fucking instigating strife in the apartment with bystanders"
