"Gran?" Jake's voice was barely over a whisper as he lazily reached toward the ceiling.

"I'm here Jake" Josh stated, leaning forward and putting his hand over Jake's.

Dirk's attention zoomed in on Jake immediately.

"Your friend is here" Josh stated. "Would you like to say goodbye before visiting hours are over? He was very worried about you"

Dirk glanced at Josh before looking back at Jake.

Jo wrapped an arm around Dirk's shoulders as they walked out of the hospital. "I'm sure he'll be alright."

Jo shook his head. "It isn't anyone's fault. Accidents happen, Dirk. Unfortunately, this was a really bad one. But we learn from our mistakes. Whatever happened, we know not to do that now when Jake comes over." She leaned over to press a brief, soft kiss to his cheek. "Don't beat yourself up over this, sweetheart. Everything will be fine."

Jo smiled at him. "Positive. Wanna get something to eat? We can get anything you want." She giggled and lightly ruffled his hair. "I can't remember the last time we got to spend time together."
