You take my breath away. (Jake/John)

John reappared with a bowl of soup and crackers 15 minutes later. Jade was following him with a glass of orange juice and a glass of water. John approached the older boy's bed first. "Chicken noodle soup made just for you Jake. I even made it myself. Had to get some chicken stock from home. It was worth it though." Jade put the glasses on his nightstand.

Jake blinked at him. "What?" he croaked, having been dazed out when John had been talking

John smiled at him. "Your soup is ready. Sit up so you can eat."

Jake wiggled up into a sitting position.

John sat on the edge of the bed. "I hope you like it." Jade sat on the floor to watch them.

Jake struggled to untangle his arms from the blanket.

John pet his forehead. "I'll feed you." He picked up the bowl and placed it in his lap. The younger boy smiled at Jake as he lifted the spoon. "Open up Jake."

Jake opened his mouth and accepted the spoon

Jade raised a brow then rolled her eyes. John didn't see her. He grinned at Jake. "Do you like it?"

Jake made a little afirmative noise, coughing a bit after he swallowed

John reached behind Jake to pat his back. "Are you alright?"

Jake nodded, clearing his throat.

John held up the spoon again. "I'm glad you like it."

Jake opened his mouth and accepted the spoon again, leaning more heavily back against the headboard.

John was humming as he fed Jake. Jade stayed on the floor to watch them.

After a few more bites Jake cleared his throat. "Thirsty"

John kissed his forehead. "Oj or water?"

"Water" Jake rasped

John reached over for the glass. Gingerly, he held it up to Jake's mouth. "Slow."

Jake slowly began to drink, letting his eyes drift closed.

John placed a hand on his knee. "That's good."

Jake grunted, trying to signify that he was done drinking

John took the glass away from his mouth. "Better?"

Jake nodded.

John set the glass back on the nightstand. "Ready for more soup?"
