Unspoken Attraction

Bro got home around two in the morning. Upon finding the livingroom empty, he went to Dave's room and, satisfied that he found both the troll and his little brother sleeping there, threw a set of keys at Dave's head.

The impact of the keys was enough to rouse Dave, his eyes blinking away the grog from his sleep. He rubbed at the sore spot on his head and glanced up at Bro with a confused look.

"Happy birthday ya little shit." Bro replied. "You can take me to get my bike in the morning."

Dave just stared at him. "What happened to your bike?"

"its at the club" Bro replied "I can't very well drive two things at once, I know you think highly of me Dave, but god damn"

"Drive two things..." Dave's eyes widened before slowly looking down at the keys laying on the bed and picking them up. "Holy shit. You got the truck?"

"Yeah, told the guy that I couldn't afford to get the thing and you didn't have money from paying your tuition, and he asked how much I could pay." Bro shrugged. "I told him five and he said he'd take it. That's still twice what he paid for the thing, and a little more than how much he put into it to fix it up. I'll just take the difference out of your ass later for ignoring me like you did."

Dave gaped at the keys in his hand. "That's a really expensive ass-kicking..."

"Not really. I was willing to pay 45 hundred for you so long as you could cover the 15 left. Since he dropped it to five grand, you would only have had to pay 5 hundred. Most expensive ass kicking you ever got was when you wrecked my turn tables and it cost me three grand to get them fixed." Bro replied. "This? This is a cake walk. You'll do work around the house and watch the troll to work off your debt and my disappointment in you for ignoring me. I thought you were cooler than that Dave. I thought you were a Strider."

"My debt?"

Dave tossed the keys back at Bro.

"I never said I wanted the truck."

Bro rolled his eyes and tossed the keys back. "I was kidding Dave. 5 hundred difference from what I had planned on paying isn't a big deal. Just think of it as an early birthday present."

"I don't want it." Insurance, gas, the inevitable cost of repairs when something that cheap broke down, Dave sure as hell couldn't afford that.

"Dude, its a nice truck, I looked at the engine, its fine, it will barely cost me anything extra to put you on my insurance. It will cut down that hour bike ride to work to like fifteen minutes or so. You won't have to wait for my ass to take you anywhere. And if you need help with gas, I don't mind helpin ya out." Bro repli3ed

Dave tossed the keys back at Bro. "I said I don't want it."

"Learn to take a gift" Bro replied, throwing the keys once more before leaving the room.

"I don't want any more gifts," Dave muttered to himself, flopping back on his bed and burying his head under his pillow.

Karkat sat up with a hissed grumble. He blinked wearily around the room.

Dave merely grumbled into his pillow.

Karkat flopped back down with a grunt.

When Dave started getting thirsty, he forced himself to get out of bed, quiet as he slipped past the troll still sleeping, more than a little uncomfortable about having to face his brother again.

Bro was out on the futon, laying on his side and watching television. Without the other troll being home, he didn't bother folding it out.

Dave tried to be as silent as possible as he got himself something to drink.

Bro yawned loudly before laying his head down. He was asleep not long after, the television still on.

Dave returned to his room with his glass of water.

Karkat was twitching slightly in his sleep, but otherwise wasn't disturbed.
