You take my breath away. (Jake/John)

He was going to die. John was literally going to die right now. His face was so hot it had to have been melting off. He stammered as he tried to form a coherent sentence. How had Jake even heard him? Dad and Jane never heard him. For christs sake everytime he even mumbled "ouch" they were down his throat, asking if he was okay.

"BECAUSE I WASN'T."

"I heard you John. And you got some on your shirt. But I heard you." Jake replied sadly. "What got you so bothered? Do you want me to leave?"

John could feel his cheeks getting wet now. As if he couldn't humliliate himself any more than he already had. Now he was crying. He still couldn't get any words to come out of his mouth either. Jake probably thought he was a big, dumb baby now. He was probably going to leave and never go back to see his younger cousin. John continued to cry as he thought about how he had just ruined everything with Jake.

Jake hushed him, rocking him. "Please don't cry John, I didn't mean to upset you"

"I'm sorry I'm so lame and stupid. I just want you to like me Jake."

"I do like you John, you don't have to hide things from me" Jake assured him.

John was trying to calm down. At least Jake wasn't yelling. Granted his older companion hardly ever raised his voice. "I don't wanna talk about it. Can we just pretend this didn't happen?"

"Alright. Do you want me to leave?" Jake asked softly.

John sniffled and quickly shook his head. "Please don't leave."

"Alright, I'll stay. Anything else you'd like?"

"Just some food."

"Let's get to the kitchen then" Jake let John go.

John kept his head down as he walked to the kitchen.

Jake was especially quiet as they walked to the kitchen. He made their plates straight off, setting John's in front of him without a word.

"Are we gonna watch another movie tonight?"

"If that's what you want to do" Jake stated quietly.

"Can we watch Avatar?" It was one of Jake's favorites. It's why Jinn chose it. Maybe the older boy would forgot about what happened quicker if they watched something as long as Avatar.

"If that's what you want" Jake replied

John nodded. "It is what I want."

"Alright then. I'll set everything up for you after I finish supper"

"You're going to watch it with me, right?"

"Yeah. I'm supposed to stay with you anyway." Jake mumbled. "I don't really feel like movies right now though"

John looked down at his plate. "If you don't want to be here you should just go."

"I want to be here, but I don't feel like you want me here anymore" Jake mumbled, leaving his picked at plate on the table and moving to go set John's movie up.

John pushed his plate away. "I want you here."
