Less Than Three

The movie pressed on, finally getting to the part when she's about to run away. Then Dave stands up and stretches, heading towards the bathroom to take a leak.

John took the opportunity to press sweet little kisses to Dirk's cheek and lips. "You doing okay?" he murmured.

He returned one of the kisses to his lips and gently nuzzled John's cheek with his nose. "Yeah." He said very quietly. "'M okay."

"Wanna talk about it?" John asked. "You still upset about the ice cream thing?"

"I just react irrationally to a lot of things. I'll be over it soon." He responded with a light pout. "Talking about it really doesn't...help me get over it."

"You wanna talk about something else to take your mind off it?" John asked, turning slightly so he could put his hands on Dirk's hips and give a playful little tug towards his lap.

A small blush tinted across his freckled cheeks as he moved closer, draping his legs across John's lap and wrapping his arms around John's shoulders with a small sigh. "I'll be okay. I promise."

Dave returned from the bathroom, giving them a look over before shrugging and sitting down. Then he looked at John, giving him a look that asked 'Is he still moping?'

John gave him a small, affirmative smile as he rubbed Dirk's back in soothing circles.

Dave snorted lightly and looked at the television, reaching over to rub at Dirk's shoulder.

Dirk pouted lightly, hating that he was being babied like this. But it must not be too bad since he didn't plan on complaining about it.

John just held and nuzzled him as he watched the movie. If Dirk didn't like this, he would just let them know.

After the movie ended, Dave sat up and stretched with a grunt. "Part two?" He asked, looking over at them.

Dirk responded with a tiny little nod of approval.

"I can go for that" John smiled. He turned to Dirk and tilted his head a little so he could press kisses to Dirk's face. "How late are we staying up tonight?" he asked Dave between kisses.

He hummed and sorted through the cases, switching out the first movie for the second. "Till we knock out, like usual." He said as he returned to the futon.

Dirk had closed his eyes by this time, savoring in every kiss he was offered.

"I think we should head to bed early tonight. We were up early for school, and that way we can just stay up all night tomorrow" John pointed out. "Like, another movie or two tops"

"Hey, whatever floats your boat." Dave said with a shrug as he pushed play. "So after this movie then?" He asked him.

"Yeah, that'll work" John smiled. "Thanks Dave. I don't think I'd be able to stay up way late tonight anyway"

"'S all good." Dave said as he looked over at Dirk who was pretty much curled up on and against John. He chuckled lightly. "Comfy there, kitten?"

Dirk's cheeks flared up in a blush and he hunched his shoulders to hide it from Dave. "Shut up."

John chuckled. "Let him be Dave, I don't mind him in my lap. I actually really like it"

"I bet he doesn't mind that much either." Dave snickered softly.

Truth is, Dirk really didn't mind. In fact, he liked it too, considering John was really warm.

"You're just jealous." John chuckled. "You're over there in cold and alone corner of the couch."

"Hey John, shut up." Dave snorted lightly. "All I need is a blanket and I'm set."

"And out like a light" John snorted. "Like a baby with a bottle man."

"Oh come on. You fall asleep faster than I do. You always do." Dave retorted with a frown, looking over at him now.

"Sometimes, until you kick me in the head and wake me back up" John replied "Or kick me right off onto the floor."

"'S not my fault I can't control my feet in my sleep. I don't even remember how many times I've apologized for that." Dave pouted now, crossing his arms.

Dirk opened his mouth to say something, only to close it again. It could wait till later.
