"Why not?" Jake asked "now's your chance" he grabbed his phone from the nightstand and held it to his ear. "Hello love, what are you up to?"

John closed his mouth as soon as Jake said love. Dave did not need to know about this. Not just yet. The younger boy would talk to him about the issue when he was ready.

He heard the younger Strider twin giggle. He was probably at home, laying in bed as he curled his bangs around his figner. Dave always did weird, girly shit when he was with Jake or talking to him. He had actually changed a fair bit ever since they started dating.

"Looooooove." Another giggle came from the phone. "Whatcha up to?"

"Just talking to John." Jake replied with a smile. "Nothing much. What are you doing?"

"Oh." He sounded disappointed. "You're busy?"

"Not really" Jake replied. "I mean, I always have time for you. What do you need?"

"I wanted to spend time with you today. I'm lonely and horny. I need my sexy bear."

"Is that so?" Jake asked with a throaty chuckle. "Then why don't you come over and cuddle your big teddy bear? He's home all alone you know"

Dave sighed into the phone. "Jeff isn't home. A bartender no showed and he had to take the shift. I don't have a ride."

"Why not ask Dirk? Doesn't he have that scrap heap he insisted he was going to fix still?" Jake asked

"I don't think so. He's been in a pissy mood all day." Dave huffed loudly. "I mean, he's always in a pissy mood but it's worse today."

Jake looked at John. "Did something happen yesterday?" he asked Dave

"No. He's just being a brat."

John was staring at his shoes.

"Why don't you see if you can coax him out? Convince him to give you a ride over, I'm sure I can find something of his I never gave back to him as a bargaining chip for you"

Dave let out a loud sigh. "I doubt he will care."

There was a knock on Dave's side of the line. "Dave, I'm leaving."

Dave covered his mic with his hand. "Where are you going?"

"Jane asked me to fix her computer, she got a virus. Then I'll probably hit up the junk yard. Why, what do you want?"

"Take me to Jake's house."

"Why can't Jake come get you?" Dirk asked with a snort. "I'm not his delivery boy"

"I don't know why. You're going to Jane's house. Why can't I go with you and walk across the street?"

Dirk sighed "Fine. Be ready in five"

Jake grinned. "shall I leave you to get ready?"

Dave kissed his mic. "See you soon Jakey."

"See you soon" Jake agreed before hanging up. "Where were we?"

John looked back up at him. "Should I go home?"

"You've got a little bit until Dave gets here, no need to rush" Jake replied
