John shrugged slightly. "I don't want to impose on you two." He looked back up at his cousin. "Does Dirk ever talk about me?"

"Dirk doesn't talk to me anymore." Jake replied. "In all honesty, I think Dirk doesn't find us friends anymore, no matter how much I still want to be his." He sighed. "You could always ask Jane or Roxy. I know he talks to them more than me."

John sighed quietly. "Sorry Jake. I think I'm just going to avoid him. Doesn't sound like a good date anyway."

There was a long pause of silence before the younger boy spoke up again. "Jake? How did you now you liked other guys?"

Jake shrugged. "I just noticed things that most guys don't usually notice. Like how nice they look, or how sweet they are. And I appreciated it." Jake looked at John with a slight frown. "Do you not know what gender you're attracted to?" he asked

John shoo his head. "I thought I like girls. But..I mean...like, I guess guys aren't bad."He groaned loudly. "I don't know."

"Sexuality isn't just black and white you know." Jake stated "You can be attracted to both, neither, or even just specific people. If you want, I can link you to all the things Dirk linked me to when I first started thinking about it"

John nodded at him. "Thanks Jake. I'm going to go home now. Have fun with Dave."

Jake nodded, standing. "I'll walk you to the door."

John stood up, leaving the room. "Isn't your anniversery with Dave soon?"

"I've got something special planned to celebrate it" Jake grinned.

John smiled and nodded. "Cool."

"We'll be gone for a week or more" Jake grinned wider

"Oh."John tried not to sound too upset. He was wasn't what he would do with Dave gone for a whole week. "I have homework I need to get done for tomorrow. Bye Jake."

"Bye John" Jake smiled, missing the fact he was upset

John shoved his hands in his pocket as he left the house. He loved his cousin to death, but man washe dense. He was grumbling to himself as he crossed the street. Out of everyone he could pick, why did Dirk have to choose John?

Hopefully Roxy or Dave could give him some advice.

Dirk's 'scrap heap' as Jake called it, fizzled to a halt in front of the Egbert residence, creaking ominously as it was put into park. Dirk got out and had to slam the door twice, muttering about how it was a piece of shit.

Dave practically jumped out of the car as soon as it stopped. He was just about skipping as he quicklymade his way across the street to Jake's house. John had just gotten inside his house before they pulled up. The younger Strider twin was bouncing on the balls of his feet as he waited for his boyfriend to answer the door.

Dirk got his computer bag out, slamming that door too. He sighed as he walked up to the house and knocked on the door.

John groaned out loud as he sat down at his computer desk. He'd deal with Dir later. Right now he really did have homework to finish. He put his headphones on, blasting the volume as he opened a word document.

Jane hurried down the stairs to greet Dirk with a smile. She calmly directed him to her room, past John's closed door.

Dirk simply made his way behind her, and sat at her desk, ready to fix her computer.

After an hour John finished his essay for English. He yawned and stretched before looking at his clock. It was already six and Dad still wasn't home. He had left early in the morning, saying he would be back later. John checked his phone and sighed. No calls or messages. He opened a text to Jane. 'has dad talked to you recently?'

Jane's phone was left next to Dirk on the desk. Dirk wasn't even paying attention to it, he was too busy coding.

Jane herself was downstairs baking.

John started to get frustrated when Jane didn't answer. Eventually, he got upand went to her room. He huffed as he knocked on the door. "Jane? Has dad texted or called you?"

The door opened under his rapping.

Dirk turned to look at him quietly. "She's downstairs" he mumbled

John stared at the older boy for a minute. He blinked rapidly before responding. "Oh. Why are you here?"
