Let's Face The Facts (Bro/John)

"Nine" You grunt in response, sitting up and swinging your legs off the side of the futon. After another minute the alarm goes into snooze mode and shuts off. "I'm taking a shower" you announce to John like it was the most important thing in the world right now (and to you it kind of is). "So you might as well put on what ever dorky cosplay you and Dave pulled out of your ass because we're leaving as soon as I get dressed"

Within a few moments, you hear the tell-tale sound of running water come from the bathroom. True enough, you really should get to putting on your cosplay. It's a Sora cosplay, the main character from 'Kingdom Hearts', and it looks pretty damn good in your opinion. It doesn't take very long to slip on the ensemble, and before you know it you're looking snazzy and ready to save the world. There was only one thing left to put on, only one more hill to climb, one more mountain to move.

It was time to face the beast; it was time to put on your wig.
Wig cap all snug and pinned to tame the wild mess that is your hair, all you had left to do is put it on and then make some final adjustments to the bangs and such to make it look awesome. Then you were completely set and ready to go! But in order to do that, you have to wait for Dave's brother to finish his shower and get out of the bathroom so you can use the mirror.

You really want to take one of your nice looooooooong showers, but you don't want to be late for registration. If you don't leave soon, you'll have to face long lines, even for the pre-reg. So you only take the time to scrub down your body with your old spice body wash, and wash your hair with its companion shampoo. As soon as you're rinsed, you shut the water off and towel off, wrapping the damp cloth around your waist and wipe off the mirror with your hand.

With the comb you always keep on the edge of the sink, you style your hair from memory, not the usual anime style spikes you keep under your hat, but a different kind of familiar that has had gamer girls creaming their panties since the 80s. With a grimace, you open the medicine cabinet and pull out your colored contacts.

You hated putting these things in, they itched like hell for the first hour, but they were the only brand that completely covered his orange irises. After a few muted curses when you poked yourself in the eye, you had them in, and it was strange to look at your reflection only to have it stare back with blue eyes.

You sigh softly as you push yourself upright and walk out in a cloud of residual steam. "You need the bathroom before we go?" you ask, walking straight over to your trunk of costumes and pulling out your own cosplay, which you had laid on top last night.

When Bro walks by in nothing but a towel, you have to physically resist the urge to jump back and screech at him to put on some pants. 'It's fine', you repeat in your head. Over and over, a mantra for the sake of your sanity. 'It's just like the lockers at school, no big deal. Get over it, Egbert, it's no big thing.' Deep breaths, deep breaths. There, that's it.

Now then: time to put on your wig.

It takes mere moments to slip it on, but here's when the hard part comes in. You have to gel the bangs to utter perfection, and sometimes you screw it up completely by making the damn fringe either too blocky or far too thin. Miracle of miracles, you don't make a mess of it! (And on your first try, too, this truly is a big accomplishment for you.) The bangs are parted just right, brushed to the side in an exact replica of Sora's own hairstyle. The sideburns are both sprayed and glued down with an extra helping of super-stick hair gel, and the stuff was expensive but sooo worth it for the effect it gives your wig.

You look perfect, if you do say so yourself! Big blues shining in what can only be called complete and utter satisfaction, you give your foggy reflection a snazzy 'pistol and a wink'. You were ready, and it was time to step out and prove it.

After the long cartrip, that is.

It wasn't hard to get dressed, even with your cosplay stuff on under your clothes. You'd finish up at the con in the bathroom, you hated driving in cosplay, you already got enough weird looks because of your glasses.

Sticking the rest of your stuff in a backpack, including cal who was already in a cosplay of his own, you donned your familiar hat and glasses and leaned back against the front door, waiting for John. "Hurry up, I want to get there in time to beat the lines"
