Hot for Strider (Karkat/Bro)

Jeff watched the two in the rear view mirror and smiled. Dave wasn't paying attention to him. When they pulled up to the drive through they both got through their order quick. Jeff looked back at Karkat. "What do ya want kiddo. You gotta get something."

Karkat shrugged. "Soft taco."

"Don't want it without anything on it or added? Want anything else?" Jeff was still looking back at him. "I can't have you starving to death on me kiddo."

"Just a soft taco" Karkat replied.

Jeff ordered the soft taco and pulled around to the first window. He payed and pulled up to the second window. "Just give me a handful of each sauce," he told the worker. He didn't say anything else as he grabbed the bag of food and drove off. Dave used his other hand to tap Karkat's shoulder. "Are you gonna be okay?"

Karkat nodded. "Fine" he mumbled.

Dave kissed his cheek again. "You don't sound like it. Wanna lay down before we eat?"

"Sure." Karkat shrugged. "i guess if it'll make you feel better"

"No need to get snarky dude," Dave let go of his hand. Jeff didn't say anything as he tried to grab something from the bag. He growled as he tossed a handful of various sauces into the back seat. "Jesus christ, the top half of the bag is sauces. I said a damn handful, not half the box."

Karkat didn't even react as he was hit in the head with a sauce packet.

"Can you not throw shit at us," Dave snapped as a pack hot sauce hit him.

"You need to get the dicks out of your ass," Jeff retorted as he pulled a soft taco out of the bag. "You've been getting snarky lately and that shit has to stop. Why can't you be like your little cutey friend? Quiet and polite."

Karkat grunted. "M'not cute."

Jeff had shoved about half of the taco in his mouth. "You're as cute as a button kid." There was meat and cheese on his chin. He ignored it as he took a bite of the taco.

"I'm not cute" Karkat repeated.

"You need to learn to take compliments," Jeff shoved the rest of the taco into his mouth. "You're adorable as hell." His words were muffled as he tried to chew and talk at the same time.

"Can you try swallowing first?" Dave had his arm crossed.

"Already did," Jeff wiped his mouth on the back of his hand. "I prefer spitting most of the time though." Dave huffed before hitting his forehead with his palm.

"I'm not cute, and I'm not fucking adorable" Karkat mumbled.

"Say whatever you want," Jeff crumpled his taco wrapper with one hand and tossed it to the passenger side floor. "i still think you're just the cutest little thing."

Karkat rolled his eyes. He didn't bother correcting Jeff again.

The rest of the ride back to the apartment was silent. Dave went to his room when they got back. Jeff turned on the xobx, grabbed a controller for himself, handed one to Cal, then sat down on the couch.

Karkat sat at a stool at the counter and put his head down, sighing against the cool tile.

Jeff glanced back at Karkat before putting the game on pause. He turned around to look at him. "You alright dear? Maybe you should go lay down with Dave."

"M'fine" Karkat mumbled. "Just thinkin"

Jeff nodded and patted the spot to his left. "Wanna come think over here by me?"

Shrugging Karkat got up and moved over to the couch, sitting and letting his head flop back against the back.

Jeff chuckled as he reached over and ruffled Karkat's hair. "Whatcha thinkin about?"
