Unspoken Attraction (Dave/Karkat)

Dave chuckled. "You just said that."

"I never said it enough" Bro replied.

"I certainly don't mind hearing it," Dave admitted, finishing off his slider and reaching for another.

Bro handed it to him halfway. "I'll try and say it more often then"

"Say it too often and it won't mean as much to me any more," Dave stated, unwrapping his second slider.

"But you still deserve it. I'm proud of you" Bro replied

"I think you're confusing pride with pity," Dave sighed.

"Nah, its definitely pride." Bro grinned.

Dave wordlessly took a bite out his burger instead of respond. Anything he had to contribute to this conversation was just going to be about what a worthless piece of shit he was. Their current circumstances were already depressing enough without his input.

Bro ruffled his hair again.

Dave shifted his hold on his slider to his injured hand so that he could grab the hand Bro was using to ruffle his hair and place it on his shoulder instead. "If you want to comfort me, do it like this. My hair shouldn't have to suffer for it."

Bro smiled and gave his shoulder a squeeze. "if you say so."

Dave hummed satisfactorily as Bro squeezed his shoulder, brushing his hair back down to its stylized form.

"How's the burger?" he asked

"Already on my second one, so I'd say they're pretty damn good," Dave chuckled, switching hands again to take another bite.

"Good. Glad you're doing better now."

Dave nudged Bro with a smirk. "How you liking the movie?"

"Its pretty funny" Bro admitted. "Not usually my thing, but amusing"

Dave went silent again, focusing on the movie. His favorite scene was coming up, the one where the drug dealer was sitting on a swing set, eating a burger while sobbing.

Bro fell into a comfortable silence as well, just eating and watching the movie.

Dave had just barely finished his third and final slider when the movie ended, washing it down with the remainder of his shake. "I think I'm gonna go into a food coma."

Bro laughed. "Do you want to take a nap then eat more then?"

"That sounds like the greatest idea ever conceived." Dave got up with his handful of wrappers and threw them away in the bathroom's trash can along with his empty shake.

Bro moved the rest of the burgers to the nightstand.

Dave washed his hands before coming back out just to flop on the bed again with a satisfied groan, face planted in a pillow.
